FAQ to Webtool launch
About the Excel tool
When will the Excel tool stop working?
The Excel tool will be closed when your screenings have been imported to the new online platform in the Webtool. Until that point, you should continue using the Excel tool.
What happens to my Excel files when the Webtool is launched?
They will be uploaded to the Webtool after completion of the below steps:
- You create your supplier locations in the Webtool, and notify Målbar when completed (notify on [email protected])
- Målbar sends you a table with all your Excel screenings and all your created supplier locations.
- You match the screenings with your supplier locations in the table. You then send it back to Målbar at [email protected]
- You create all warehouses you have activities in and define all specific routes between your known locations
- You create your sales channels and countries and weight these so you have a default country share
- Målbar will then upload your Excel files to the Webtool.
About the Webtool
I received a login from you, but I need my colleague to help me fill in the data. What do I do?
Please send an e-mail to [email protected], and we will provide a login for your colleague.
What is the difference between the Excel tool and the Webtool?
Watch our CEO explain some of the major changes here
What does 'locations' mean?
‘Locations’ is the module where you create all your physical locations that are relevant for your product flows from suppliers and sub-suppliers, through warehouses and further to your sales channels.
Can I see a step-by-step guide on how to create locations?
Yes, we have created a visual step-by-step guide, that shows you how to create the different kinds of locations in the Webtool.
We have three short guides about locations:
- one guide specifically explaining supplier locations
- one guide explaining how to register warehouse locations
- one that explains the rest of the location types
Where in my organisation do I get data to create our locations?
Your supply chain department should be able to help you.
What does 'Routes' cover in the Webtool?
This is the module where you specify all known routes between suppliers, warehouses, and end locations.
You should only create the routes where both the departing location and the arrival location are known (and created as locations in the Locations module). This information will automatically be connected with your product screenings, enabling you to only input these transport routes once.
You will also add the transportation methods of the goods in this module
In ‘Routes’ you can add as many transport legs to a route as necessary.
The transport legs are defined by type, method of transport and distance.
When creating routes, we recommend you to use www.ecotransit.org for information about distances and combination of transport methods.
Can I see a step-by-step guide on how to create routes?
Yes, we have a visual step-by-step guide that shows you exactly how it is done.
How do I input my routes correctly if I don't use warehouses?
Deliveries that are made directly from supplier to customer can be inputtet in the module called ‘Country shares’ in the column called ‘Direct’.
What is 'Country shares'?
In the module called ‘Country shares’, you apply the right shares to the combination of locations and routes which you have defined already.
This is the final step to enable our calculations to present the right impact from logistics, use phase and disposal.
Having your country shares input, enables absolute configuration of all your product screenings to match your “world”.
Where in my organisation do I get data to fill out the country shares?
You can get the data from your Finance department, Business development department, BI reporting responsible, IT etc.
What is COGS?
COGS stands for Cost Of Goods Sold. This is the turnover but based on your costs.
Here is an example.
You sell a chair for 1,000€.
It costs the company 200€ to buy from a supplier
In total, you have sold 10 chairs.
Your turnover is 10,000€
Your COGS is 2,000€
Which currency should I input my COGS in?
You choose which currency the COGS should be presented in for your own internal work. We recommend that you in “Name” write the currency so your colleagues are aware of it too.
How will my locations, routes, and country shares be integrated into my Excel screenings?
They will be integrated into the Webtool, after completion of the below steps:
- You create your supplier locations in the Webtool and notify Målbar when completed (notify on [email protected])
- Målbar sends you a table with all your Excel screenings and all your created supplier locations
- You match the screenings with your supplier locations in the table. Then you send it back to Målbar at [email protected]
- You create warehouses and define all specific routes between your known locations
- You create your sales channels and countries and weight these so you have a default country share
- Målbar will then upload your Excel files to the Webtool.
Why should I use the Webtool when the Excel tool still works?
Even though you are used to work in Excel, we are confident that your workflow will be much easier in the Webtool.
You don’t have to struggle with Dropbox or Sharepoint issues, you get a better overview of all your screenings, and you have all your supply chain specific data in one place.
The Webtool is more accurate and very intuitive and will be continuously developed with all your valuable inputs.
The Webtool will always present the newest available data from all the data sources, hence it will always show an up-to-date presentation of your emissions.
Once your screenings are in the new platform, the Excel tool will no longer be supported and will no longer be usable.
